We preserve what we love:
Solar park produces solar power equivalent to the consumption of all Esmark holiday homes
At Esmark, we are proud to continue our collaboration with The 0-Mission to present. We are working with The 0-Mission because we want to contribute to a more sustainable future. Through this collaboration, we ensure that solar power is fed into the Danish electricity grid, which corresponds to the electricity consumption of our customers Holiday homes in Denmark and also corresponds to our Esmark offices on the Danish North Sea coast. This means that every time you charge your mobile phone, cook on the cooker or use electricity for something else in your holiday home, the same amount of green electricity is fed into the Danish grid.

The 0-Mission was founded by Anna and Thomas, two people who are passionate about ecological change. They founded the company with a clear goal: to give all companies the opportunity to contribute to the ecological transition. Esmark's collaboration with The 0-Mission
We support the production of solar power at the solar park in Vandel near Vejle, which corresponds to the electricity consumption of all the holiday homes rented out by Esmark.
The solar park is designed to be environmentally friendly and contribute to local biodiversity while producing CO2-neutral electricity. The solar park also focuses on promoting biodiversity and protecting groundwater reserves, which is why no pesticides or fertilisers are used on the site.
The electricity consumption in the Esmark holiday homes corresponds to approx. 60 km of solar modules.

The electricity from the collaboration with The 0-Mission comes directly from solar cells in Vandel near Vejle in East Jutland, Denmark. The amount of electricity we use at Esmark is equivalent to the annual production of almost 60 kilometres of solar cells! That's like driving 75,000,000 kilometres in an electric car.
We have done all this in collaboration with The 0-Mission because we have the vision that a holiday in one of our holiday homes should have as little impact on the climate as possible. By working with The 0-Mission, we ensure that we produce as much green electricity as we and our rented holiday homes consume.
We are helping to ensure that more sustainable energy is installed in Denmark, and the best thing about it is that we can do something for the climate here and now, without having to wait for government subsidies or international projects. So when you enjoy a relaxing holiday in one of our holiday homes by the North Sea, you can do so with a clear conscience, knowing that together we are contributing to a more sustainable future. Nevertheless, we would like to encourage you to also make a difference during your holiday in the Holiday home to save electricity – because every little step counts.

What does the construction of solar parks mean for biodiversity?
The solar park in Vandel near Vejle is located on land that was previously used for an aerodrome and conventional agriculture. This means that no sensitive nature has been lost, on the contrary, the park ensures that biodiversity can develop over time. The management of the park is supervised by biologists and aims to create new habitats for more plants and insects. No pesticides or artificial fertilisers are used in the park. As a result, bees and flowers thrive between and under the slabs. At the same time, the large groundwater reservoir beneath the park is protected from the leaching of pesticides.
Is the solar park fenced in?
Parts of the solar park are fenced off, including the area that was previously used as an airfield. This allows small mammals, reptiles and amphibians to cross the park without any problems.
Do sheep graze the solar park?
No sheep graze on the Vandel solar park.
Is solar power CO2-neutral?
Yes and no. In the carbon footprint, solar power is labelled as CO2-neutral, but in practice CO2 is of course released during the production, transport and installation of the modules. On average, approx. 37 g CO2/KWh are released, which is 23 times less than the emissions from coal-fired power stations.
