A visit to the Museum Tirpitz should be on everyone's to-do list for a holiday in Blåvand. You can expect a wide range of activities that are suitable for both adults and children. There is sure to be something for you and your family: for example, an exhibition about amber, the so-called gold of West Jutland, or the fascinating history of the west coast.
A highlight are the bunkers, which were built at the current location of the museum during the Second World War and are now used as museum rooms. One part of the museum blends harmoniously into the natural surroundings, as it is planted with marram grass and hardly differs from the surrounding landscape. Only the modern glass and steel walls give the museum building a futuristic ambience.

A beastly good experience: Blavand Zoo
In the Blåvand Zoo is home to around 400 animals and 80 different species. Here you can get really close to the animals. There are little calves, cute rabbits and goats. The most popular attractions include white lions and giant Australian kangaroos.

The Mini Blåvand Zoo is located near the enclosure and offers pony rides, feedings and shows where the animals are the stars. A day trip to the zoo is an experience for young and old alike, as it offers a varied programme and is open almost all year round.
Inspiration from the North Sea: The Fisheries and Maritime Museum in Esbjerg
The Fishing and Maritime Museum is not an attraction in the town itself, but in neighbouring Esbjerg. The harbour town is only around 40 minutes by car from Blavand and is therefore a great destination for a holiday. The exhibitions here provide a fascinating insight into the relationship between the marine world and humans. You can learn all about offshore gas and oil production facilities and what it's like to live on a drilling platform on the water.
The huge aquariums are inhabited by all kinds of sea creatures, such as seals, the largest marine mammals. There is also an exhibition about the Wadden Sea and open-air attractions in the harbour of Esbjerg. As admission is free for children under the age of 18, the Fisheries and Maritime Museum in Esbjerg is particularly popular with large families.
