Koubjerg in Toftum
Koubjerg is a small, quiet gravel road that loops around the western edge of Toftum – right in the middle of the northern part of Römö. The Wadden Sea to the east is about one and a half kilometres away, the wide North Sea beach at Lakolk around two and a half: a short drive by car or a lovely bike ride through heath and dunes.
The landscape all around is flat and open. The Høstbjerg viewpoint lies close by, as do the heather-covered expanses of Bolilmark. Further north a path runs along the Juvre dyke, which protects the Juvre Enge marshes – a peaceful spot for birdwatching.
Toftum itself is a piece of island history: here you'll find the National Museum's commander's farm and the old school, one of Denmark's oldest school buildings. The area's gravel lanes and the cycle path heading north invite you to explore all of Römö by bike – right down to Havneby in the south.
The holiday homes on Koubjerg sit on large, sheltered natural plots, often with a wood-burning stove, sauna and play equipment in the garden. Ideal if you're looking for peace, nature and a family holiday away from the crowds.
