Møllegade in Höjer

Møllegade lies in the middle of Höjer, an old marsh town in southern Jutland just a few kilometres from the German border.

The town's landmark stands practically on the doorstep: Höjer Mill, the tallest wooden windmill in Northern Europe. From its gallery you look out across the marsh, and inside, the Mill and Marsh Museum tells the story of the region.

A few kilometres west the Wadden Sea begins, with the Höjer lock, the dykes and the wide marsh meadows along the Vidå – in spring and autumn one of the best places in Denmark to witness the starling murmurations known as "Sort Sol". For a beach day you drive to Römö; Mögeltönder with Schackenborg Castle, Tönder and the Nolde Museum across the border are all easily reached.

The holiday homes on Møllegade are cosy town houses with fenced gardens – ideal for couples and anyone looking for culture, nature and quiet away from the coastal resorts.
