On Randerupvej you stay wonderfully on the edge of the marsh. There's plenty of room to yourself here – it's not unusual for pheasants or roe deer to greet you right outside the terrace. The centre of Skärbäk, with its shops and supermarkets, is only a few minutes away, and you can reach the broad North Sea beaches of Römö by car in around a quarter of an hour.

All around stretches the Wadden Sea National Park – Denmark's largest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Twice a day the tide lays bare the seabed, creating a unique habitat for countless birds. In spring and autumn you can witness the famous Sort Sol (Black Sun), when hundreds of thousands of starlings darken the evening sky.

For a magnificent view over the marsh, climb the Marsk Tower, a 25-metre viewing tower by architect Bjarke Ingels – on a clear day you can see all the way to Tönder. The island of Römö offers one of the widest sandy beaches in Northern Europe, perfect for land sailing and long walks. Ribe, Tönder and LEGOLAND in Billund are all within easy reach too.
