Sand as far as the eye can see: holiday homes in Bjerregård

Fresh sea air, the cries of seagulls, dune landscapes and an endless sandy beach: this is the holiday home area Bjerregård. The houses are idyllically situated in the dunes and make a picturesque postcard motif. You hardly notice the rough westerly wind that sometimes sweeps across the sea. The village itself is also quiet and tranquil. There is a small smokehouse, a shop and a playground on Bjerregårdsvej. In summer, of course, you can also enjoy the typical Danish Soft ice cream.

Holiday homes with fjord view: Årgab

Årgab is a small holiday home area behind the dunes. The dunes here are particularly high and, with their white sand, create the perfect panorama between the North Sea coast and the coastal sea. As the Holmsland dune in the area is particularly narrow, the path to the beach is short. There are two options for swimming, sunbathing, kitesurfing and windsurfing: The sea or the fjord beach. It doesn't get any better than this.

Holiday homes in Søndervig

Søndervig is one of the most attractive destinations for a holiday in Denmark. The extensive dune landscape and the numerous Holiday homes from Søndervig ensure pure relaxation. Cultural highlights include the annual Søndervig sand sculpture festival and the remains of the Atlantic Wall on the beach, which are half submerged in the sand.

Ringkobing Fjord: Activities for the whole family

The varied region around the Ringkøbing fjord is ideal for beach walks, hikes, bike tours and sightseeing. In the southern part of the fjord lies the Tipperne peninsula with one of the oldest bird sanctuaries in the country. To the west is the 30 kilometre long and 2 kilometre wide Holmsland Klit spit. The north side of the Ringkøbing fjord boasts the historic town of Ringkøbing and in the east there are many idyllic holiday homes.

A visit to the Ringkøbing Museum

The Ringkøbing Museum is a popular attraction for holidays in West Jutland. It was founded in 1908 to exhibit the history and traditions of the region for posterity. The "Flyers of the Night" exhibition invites visitors on a journey into the Second World War with its reconstructed bunkers and stories from contemporary witnesses. It can be combined with a tour of the Houvig fortifications, which lie to the north of Søndervig.

Dune farm Abelines Gaard

The Abelines Gaard dune farm is a listed museum that exhibits life in Denmark in the 1900s. A bailiff once lived on the Hof who looked after shipwrecked sailors and stranded ships. The rooms and exhibits provide an authentic insight into those times. Delicious coffee and cakes are served in the Hofcafé.

Kitesurfing and windsurfing at Ringkobing Fjord

As the beaches on Ringkøbing Fjord are shallow, the conditions here are ideal for Kitesurfers and windsurfers. Windsurfers like to meet on the south pier of the North Sea coast off Hvide Sande. The northern fjord region near Søndervig is particularly popular with kitesurfers. The region is not only well-known among freestyle junkies, but also among beginners. Numerous surf schools have now established themselves all along the fjord. The best known is Westwind, with schools in Bork Havn, Hvide Sande and Årgab.

The best spots for kitesurfing and windsurfing:

  • Årgab

  • Bork Havn

  • Hvide Sandes North beach

  • Hvide Sande Fjord

  • Ringkøbing

  • Skaven

Off to the beach: swimming in the fjord

The Ringkøbing fjord is particularly suitable for families with small children, as there are only child-friendly beaches here. The reason: the water is calm, shallow and only gets deeper slowly. Around 50 per cent of the fjord is not even waist deep. As you are not on the open sea here, there are fewer waves and hardly any currents. Many areas are also patrolled by lifeguards.

What are the most beautiful beaches?

There are beautiful bathing opportunities on the fjord at Skaven Strand, Hemmet Strand, Bork Havn Strand and in Hvide Sande, for example.

Fishing at Ringkøbing Fjord

The Ringkøbing fjord is particularly popular with keen anglers. Here the distance from the holiday home to the fish-rich fjord is short, especially with our Holiday homes for your fishing holiday. The holiday homes are equipped with a large freezer with a capacity of up to 80 litres. This gives you enough space to freeze your North Sea catch for later. You can also hire a 100 litre freezer in our Esmark office.

Which fish are there?

The water in Ringkøbing Fjord is a mixture of the salt water of the North Sea and the fresh water of the River Skjern A. As a result, various species of fish such as Al, pike, perch and flatfish have colonised Ringkøbing Fjord. The best fishing spots are in the south of the fjord at Nymindegab, for example. What anglers like: The fjord is surrounded by rushes, so there is enough space to fish almost everywhere.

Fishing licence is compulsory

Also good to know: Anyone between the ages of 18 and 65 needs an official fishing licence in Denmark to fish in the Ringkøbing fjord, on a river or by the sea. Excluded from this are Put & Take ponds. Fishing licences are available in fishing shops, tourist offices and online.
