Strandskaden in Sönderstrand

At the south-western end of the Wadden Sea island of Römö, in the scenic Sönderstrand area, you'll find the small road of Strandskaden – wonderfully peaceful and surrounded by lush greenery. It's only around 1–1.2 km to the wide, white sandy beach, and you can also reach the Stormengene bird sanctuary and the Vråby plantation easily on foot.

Sönderstrand impresses with kilometre after kilometre of snow-white sand – one of the broadest beaches in Northern Europe. Here you can walk, jog and swim, or let off steam with land sailing, kite-buggying and blokart. Along many stretches you're even allowed to drive your car right onto the beach.

On the other side, protected nature beckons: in the Stormengene bird reserve, with views over the Wadden Sea, you can watch countless birds, while the Vråby plantation is criss-crossed by lovely walking and cycling trails. The lively main town of Havneby – with shops, restaurants, a harbour and the Sylt ferry – is just a short drive away.

The holiday homes on Strandskaden sit on generous natural plots surrounded by trees and often feature a wood-burning stove, conservatory, sauna and hot tub, plus sunny terraces – ideal for a relaxing family holiday with your dog.
