On Strandvej you stay right in the heart of the idyllic marsh village of Ballum, just a stone's throw from the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea. The road leads out to the dikes, past the historic old ferry house from which the ferry to Römö once set off. From your terrace, your gaze sweeps across wide fields or, depending on the location, even out over the endless expanse of the Wadden Sea.

The Wadden Sea is a nature paradise like no other: at low tide you can set off on a guided mudflat walk, watching seals and countless birds. In spring and autumn the spectacle of the "Black Sun" enchants you, when vast flocks of starlings darken the sky. Long walks along the dike round off the day with breathtaking sunsets.

Close by, the Ballum Sluse – a sluice on the Brede Å river – is well worth a visit. Across the causeway you quickly reach the island of Römö with its miles-wide sandy beaches – ideal for a varied day by the sea.
