The Wadden Sea on the North Sea: pure nature

Unique and fascinating Nature experiences are found throughout Denmark, but especially in the Danish Wadden Sea along the North Sea coast. The Wadden Sea National Park, known to the Danes as "Vadehavet National Park", stretches over almost 150,000 hectares from the northern tip of Blavandshuk to the German-Danish border in the south.

Wadden Sea on the Danish North Sea coast

Feel the cool, muddy mudflats on your feet on a hike or explore the culture of the Wadden Sea on an excursion to the three inhabited Wadden Sea islands. Fanö, Mandö and Römö invite you to go on an excursion close to nature, where you can experience the full breadth of Danish North Sea nature. The island of Fanö is particularly well-known among bathing enthusiasts: Surrounded by Denmark's unique nature, you can relax here at high tide on magnificent beaches that invite you to swim. On windy days, these stretches are ideal for sporting activities or fun and games with kite flying.

The Ho bay is an equally popular excursion destination. Here you will find nature in its purest form, which has also been a nature reserve for a long time. Observe a wide variety of migratory birds or take an exciting tour through the wild nature of the bay. On a holiday in the Holiday home in Ho you are only a stone's throw away from this breathtaking natural spectacle!

The North Sea coast of North Jutland: the perfect destination for maritime experiences

The North Sea coast of North Jutland stretches from Grenen to Agger. Adventurous holidaymakers will find a wide range of activities here: Have you ever been fishing and eaten the freshly caught fish straight away? In North Jutland you will find several exciting spots where you can try your luck at catching fish! The local gastronomy is less action-packed but just as culinary: stroll through food festivals and small weekly markets or find something to suit your taste in the various restaurants or quaint fish and Ho shops! After a long walk along the wide sandy beaches or a sailing tour through the fjord landscapes, a delicious, tasty refreshment is already in sight.

In rainy weather or on cold winter days, a visit to one of the largest aquariums in Northern Europe is a good idea: The North Sea Oceanarium. Thousands of fish live here in 6 million litres of water and are waiting to be marvelled at. Changing exhibitions and an outdoor area where you can meet grey seals and harbour seals provide pure variety.

Castle-Christiansborg in Copenhagen
Christiansborg Slot i København er en af Danmarks top seværdigheder og imponerer med sin historiske arkitektur ved vandet.

The Christiansborg Castle Church

Christiansborg Palace is located in the centre of Copenhagen on the island of Slotsholmen, where the heads of the country's three branches of government are united. The neo-classical castle church stands separately in the northern castle district and is only connected to the castle by a low connecting building. Both the palace complex and the palace church can be visited. Be overwhelmed by the extraordinary beauty of the church or attend a parliamentary debate as a spectator in the gallery of the plenary chamber - an absolute must for every politics enthusiast!

Nyhavn harbour in Copenhagen

During a stay or day trip in Copenhagen, it is worth visiting Nyhavn - an old entertainment district with maritime charm. The cosy harbour is a popular promenade for locals and holidaymakers alike and exudes a hygge feeling with its colourful gabled houses and old traditional ships! Small cafés and restaurants offer delicious food and coffee specialities for a relaxing break, which you can enjoy with a wonderful view of the water and the harbour. Explore the houses numbered 18 and 67: these were the former homes of the famous poet Hans Christian Andersen and are now open to holidaymakers. There is also a monument to the poet on the adjoining Royal New Market and many other sights such as a theatre and Charlottenburg Palace, which for a long time served as the secondary residence of the Danish royal family.

Amalienborg Palace and the Little Mermaid

Amalienborg was built in the Baroque Rococo style in the 17th century. Four identical buildings are enthroned in the city of Copenhagen and are among the capital's most popular and imposing sights. The palace is not only famous as an architectural masterpiece, but also for its life guards. Be there when the changing of the guard takes place: Every day at 11.30 a.m., the Royal Life Guards leave their barracks at Rosenborg Palace and march through the city to Amalienborg Palace. At 12.00 noon, the guards are relieved. A unique sight!

After the changing of the guard, it is worth making a detour to the symbol of the city of Copenhagen. The bronze figure of the Little Mermaid, which the Danes now regard as a national symbol, sits on the Langelinie waterfront promenade. Hans Christian Andersen created this fairytale figure in one of his many stories.

The Hans Christian Andersen House in Odense

The houses in Nyhavn, the Little Mermaid on the waterfront: Hans Christian Andersen is omnipresent in the small Danish kingdom. He was born in Odense on the Danish island of Fyn in 1805.

Almost a hundred years later, his birthplace was transformed into a museum, making it one of the oldest poetry museums in the world. In addition to the birthplace, there is also a separate museum dedicated to the poet as well as a children's cultural centre and the Møntergården city museum in Odense. The tranquil town is therefore perfect for a cultural excursion into Denmark's poetic past.

Ribe: Denmark's oldest city

Just an hour's drive from your Holiday home in Blåvand is the oldest town in the small kingdom. Ribe was one of the most important Danish harbours on the North Sea coast throughout the Middle Ages and in the early modern period. Buildings such as the imposing stone cathedral from the Middle Ages are a reminder of this time hundreds of years ago. The cathedral is now the city's most magnificent landmark. The town centre with its narrow cobbled streets is also reminiscent of the proud Middle Ages. Commemorative plaques and ancient remnants of this period tell you the unique history of the city on a tour. Feel the Danish feel-good atmosphere on a summer afternoon in the pedestrianised zone, listen to the sound of the water mills and perhaps hear the night watchman's song breaking the silence of the quaint town in the evening hours.

Dyrehavsbakken amusement park: tradition, variety and adrenaline

Off you go on an exciting, thrilling and varied tour through the oldest still existing Amusement park of the world! It was created in 1583 with the discovery of a natural spring, which not only attracted crowds of onlookers, but also jugglers and artists. Bakken Park is now one of the most visited amusement parks in Europe.

The centrepiece of the attractions is the Holz rollercoaster „Slides“ and the many interactive rides. Young and old alike can also look forward to a fun ride on the white water ride and an exciting little trip through the Fun House Hurlumhejhus.
