Drosselvej in Havneby

On Drosselvej, you stay in Havneby, the lively main town at the southern tip of Römö. The harbour with its maritime atmosphere, restaurants and shops is only a few minutes away on foot, and the Wadden Sea is practically on your doorstep. The famous Sönderstrand, one of the widest sandy beaches in Europe, can be reached by car in just a few minutes.

Just behind Havneby lies Vråby Plantation, a hilly woodland area with beautiful walking trails, singing thrushes and the 18-metre-high viewpoint Stagebjerg. All around you stretches the Wadden Sea National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On a guided mudflat walk, oyster safari or seal safari, you can experience the unique tidal landscape up close.

At the wide Sönderstrand, you can swim, ride horses or try exciting beach activities such as land sailing, kite buggying and blokarting. At the harbour, fresh fish and smoked Römö prawns are waiting to be enjoyed, and the ferry takes you to the neighbouring German island of Sylt in around 40 minutes. Remember to bring your ID. A golf course and the Kommandørgården museum are also nearby.

After a day in the fresh sea air, you can relax on the terrace or in front of a crackling fire.
