The Lyngvig Fyr lighthouse

The famous Lyngvig Fyr lighthouse is located north of Hvide Sande. After climbing 228 steps, you will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the dune landscape of Holmsland Klit, the North Sea and the Ringkøbing fjord.

The Fiskeriets Hus Museum

The Museum Fiskeriets Hus is dedicated to the underwater world of Hvide Sande. In the aquariums, visitors can observe a wide variety of fish species from the North Sea and the fjord. Here, for example, vendace cavort, the national fish from the Ringkøbing fjord. You can also observe eels, sea wolves, lobsters and gurnards. If you're really brave, you can even put your hand in the petting pool. The Fiskeriets Hus museum also exhibits the history of a ship that was shipwrecked on the west coast. You will also learn interesting facts about the lock and its impact on the environment in the Ringkøbing fjord.

Tyskerhavn: A journey into the old Hvide Sande

Here, one charming house in black, green, grey and red follows the next: welcome to Tyskerhavn, where time has stood still. Tyskerhavn is the oldest neighbourhood in Hvide Sande. The small houses on Tyskerhavn, which once served as tool sheds, were built as early as 1912 and are therefore older than Hvide Sande itself. To this day, the fishing boats unload their daily catch from the sea, meaning that the harbour is always a hive of activity in the early hours of the morning.

The harbour is also home to Houseboats, which can be rented for a holiday on the water. Two of the colourful houses on Tyskerhavn have been converted into artists' houses, which can be used as workshops by national and international artists such as painters, musicians and authors. In summer, the doors of the artists' house "ART56" are open to interested visitors.

The Atlantic Wall: Bunker at Ringkøbing Fjord

The beaches of Denmark are attractions in themselves, because here you can explore old bunkers from the Second World War. The former Atlantic Wall, which was built by the German Wehrmacht from 1942, stretches from the northern tip of Denmark in Skagen all the way down to the North Sea islands Fanö.

The remains of bunkers and fortifications can still be found all along the west coast of Denmark, including in our holiday home regions Blavand, Sondervig and Houvig. Some of them are half sunk in the sand, others are still well preserved and can be visited as sights.
