Mathiases Toft in Sönderho

Mathiases Toft is a quiet lane on the edge of Sönderho – and from many of the houses you look straight out at the old mill, perched on its dune above the village. In summer you can even take a tour inside. Shops are only a short distance away.

The houses are set well apart from one another, tucked into the dune landscape. In the evenings roe deer often come right up to the terrace. Striking, too, are the many thatched holiday homes that echo the building style of the listed village.

Sönderho itself is within walking distance: narrow winding lanes, craft workshops and galleries, the old harbour and cosy places to eat. Fanö is barely 16 kilometres long and less than five wide – perfect for exploring by bike all the way north to Nordby, where the ferry crosses to Esbjerg in twelve minutes.

The holiday homes on Mathiases Toft are mostly high-quality – often with a wood-burning stove, sauna, whirlpool and terraces all around the house. Ideal if you want to combine comfort with genuine Sönderho character.
