Præstemarken in Sönderho

In the idyllic south of the North Sea island of Fanö, in the holiday area around the old skipper village of Sönderho, you'll find Præstemarken – wonderfully peaceful on the edge of large, protected dune and heathland areas. From many of the houses you can enjoy sweeping views over the dune landscape, and it's only about 1 km to the broad sandy beach of the North Sea.

Fanö's impressively wide sandy beach stretches around 17 km along the west coast and is part of the Wadden Sea National Park. Here you can walk, swim and, with a little luck, find amber. In the unspoilt nature all around, guided safaris even let you spot seals and sea eagles.

Nearby Sönderho is considered one of Denmark's most beautiful villages and, with over 70 listed houses, has more than any other town in the country. Stroll through the narrow lanes with their thatched skipper houses, stop at a cosy café and sample the regional cuisine. The main town of Nordby is well worth a visit too.

The holiday homes on Præstemarken sit on generous natural plots and often feature a wood-burning stove, pool, sauna and hot tub, plus sunny terraces with dune views – ideal for a relaxing family holiday with your dog.
