Vestermarken in Sønderho

In Vestermarken you'll stay in a quiet, idyllic setting in Sønderho, the enchanting little village at the southern tip of the island of Fanø. The holiday homes here sit on generous natural plots, nestled into the wild dune and heath landscape right by the Wadden Sea. Sønderho lies a little off the beaten track, offering especially abundant peace and relaxation. It's only a short walk through the dunes to the kilometre-wide sandy beach.

Sønderho was voted Denmark's prettiest village in 2017. Along the picturesque lanes stand colourful, thatched Fanø houses, mostly from the 18th century. Here you'll find the historic Sønderho Kro, an art museum with changing exhibitions and perhaps the loveliest community hall in Denmark, where fiddle music and dancing are often on offer.

Fanø is a paradise for nature lovers. Be sure to bring your bikes, as the island is wonderful to explore on its lovely cycle paths. On the beach you can swim, ride a blokart or, on a seal safari, watch the animals out on the sandbanks. Via the twelve-minute ferry from Esbjerg, you're quickly on the island.
